I recently finished a Makey Makey piano project with Mr. Lee's mini music classes! We had so much fun! I wanted to break down how we did here so you could do it too!
We started with ten Makey Makey Classic kits. You can buy your own by clicking HERE. We also had ten Chromebooks, so we decided to have our students break up into groups of 2 or 3 depending on class size.
Students were first shown the Makey Makey video below to be introduced to what Makey Makey is and how it works.

We then gave each group a song that could be played with the notes on the Makey Makey piano. I love that Makey Makey has a piano ready to go so you don't have to worry about coding one or finding one! Thanks Makey Makey!! You can click HERE to see the website set up as a piano.
Once the students translated their notes from the songs to the notes on the piano, they practiced reading the music and playing the song. We were so proud of their hard work! Some of the students even got really creative with how they grounded their circuit. Some made bracelets to wear, while others held the ground wire and touched the student who was playing, so the student playing could use both hands.
