Making the move to this new schedule has been challenging. People don't like it when you change the way things have been done for over 30 years, but I think it's starting to work really well! Our first big collaboration project was Makey Makey Interactive Posters, and it was just the coolest thing ever!
My 5th grade students and teachers started this project by researching two historical figures. They drew a Venn diagram and recorded notes as they read regarding how these figures were similar and different. They then turned those Venn diagrams into scripts. Students created posters with images of their two figures and brought that poster and script into the library for our coding day.
I started our library day by showing the students this video to explain what Makey Makey does:
Students showcased their interactive posters to their classmates, another literacy class, and even staff members. They were very proud and so were we!
They have lesson plans, other ideas, and a way to purchase your own Makey Makey.
