Washington Middle School, through a grant given by Lanxess Chemical Company, was able to purchase a class set of Parrot Mambo drones. These are very light weight, durable mini drones. They worked great and the students loved them!
The next two days we split the class in half and took one half to the library to practice coding drones. The other half stayed with their teacher to complete a research activity regarding how drones are used in today's society.
The next day we switched the groups so that every student was able to participate in both activities.
We used these Google slides to help our students learn to code their drones. There was also a lot of iPad mirroring to help them code the first time.
Every single 6th grade student will complete this drone unit before they leave Washington Middle School. I feel so lucky to work in such an amazing district and an amazing school where I get to spend my days teaching things like this! Thank you El Dorado School District, and thank you WMS for providing these learning opportunities for our students!
