Canva

As I've mentioned in past blog posts, I use Canva to make many things for our library here at Washington Middle School.  Canva is a free website, www.canva.com, where you can make graphic designs.  The possibilities are really endless!  I use it to make posters, signs, advertisements, invitations, banners for the website, graphics for our school website, and even documents.  Everything on my Teacher Pay Teacher store is made with Canva.  It is so easy to use and FREE!  My advice would be to use free pre made templates to get started, especially if design isn't your thing.  Once you get the feel of the website and what it can offer, branch out!  Try to make your own style and get creative!
Disclaimer- there are features on Canva that you do have to pay for if you choose to use them.  These consist of certain images, special graphics, or pre made designs.  I still highly recommend Canva because you can certainly come up with something that is free.  I have never paid for anything!

Here are some of my favorite designs for the library that I made using Canva.

Each nine weeks we have AR rewards if students reach a certain number of points.  To advertise this to students, I hung this poster in various places around the school.

This is a free template for a resume.  I used it to create a document to send for School Library Journal Librarian of the Year.  I needed to fit a lot of information and had a page limit, so this worked very well.

Here I created a book tournament poster.  I just left the spots blank and filled them in with the winning book as the tournament continued.

We use our library website every single day.  I wanted to make it easier for students to access, so I created this poster and hung it in the library by the computers.

This was a request by one of my teacher friends.  We had a lot of fun putting it together and it works perfectly in her classroom.

I have found that I like to make documents in Canva more than Word.  I feel like I have more freedom and just know the website so well that pretty much anything I can come up with in my brain, I can put to paper with Canva.

This picture is displayed on the TV screens when faculty meetings or other meetings are taking place.  Our theme this year was WILD about learning!

I love to create bathroom book ads for students to see throughout the year.  This is a picture from the first year I did this.  Students were always asking for these books.  A janitor even stopped in the library one time and asked for a book that he saw an ad for that sounded really interesting!
